Oil players raise diesel prices by 25¢ per liter

MANILA, Philippines -  Shell, Chevron, Total and Phoenix yesterday increased the price of their diesel products by 25 centavos per liter.

They said they have to adjust their prices based on the movements of international oil prices.

There was no movement for the other petroleum products.

Petron Corp., the country’s largest oil refiner, said as of press time they have no plans yet of increasing their diesel prices.

Last June 14, the oil companies implemented an increase of 50 centavos per liter for gasoline, 60 centavos per liter for diesel and 40 centavos per liter for kerosene.

These adjustments brought the year-to-date net increases to P6.57 per liter for gasoline and P6.60 per liter for diesel.

Another round of diesel price increase came after the Department of Energy (DOE) hinted that the price probe they have conducted on oil companies may prove to be consistently done in accordance with international oil prices.

The DOE-Department of Justice task force is conducting an investigation on price adjustments carried out by the oil companies during the Holy Week.

The DOE, however, said they would consult with the DOJ before releasing the official results of the probe.
