MANILA, Philippines – An overseas Filipino workers' advocacy group is set to appeal before the Supreme Court the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to disqualify the group from participating in next year's party-list elections.
"We will file the motion for reconsideration Monday next week," Connie Bragas-Regalado, Migrante chairperson, told philstar.com.
She said the Comelec's resolution has no basis because no hearing was conducted prior the removal of the group from the list of registered partylist organizations.
Regalado added that the resolution covers groups that participated in two consecutive elections. Migrante did not participate in the 2007 elections.
