Liberal Party Senatorial candidate ‘Teacher’ Neric Acosta challenges Manny Villar to add truth or dare to the many games that Villar is already playing including lying about his own campaign donors and deceiving children and their parents with his camote fund.

“He’s just jealous that ours is a people-powered campaign,” reacts Acosta to Villar’s call for his opponents to reveal their campaign donors.
“From the onset, Senator Aquino has been clear that neither he nor the party will accept contributions that are tied to conditions. Our supporters are there because they truly believe in our cause and the spirit of our campaign—that their support is an investment for democracy, not so that they may reap financial profit after the elections.”

“Our campaign isn’t run solely because of the contributions of businessmen. It’s also very much about our volunteers and the individuals from different sectors who contribute even only the small amounts that they can afford to the piso-piso para sa pagbabago fund. If Villar were truly poor, he’d understand the big difference that even small amounts can make… or perhaps, this is why he understands that we are formidable opponents.”
Moreover, ‘Teacher’ Neric Acosta strongly dares Villar to reveal his own list of donors, especially since AG Nielsen Media reports show that Villar spent over one billion pesos on ads between November and January.

“Villar claims that he paid for his own ads. On the contrary, the note at the end of his TV and radio commercials states that they were paid for by the ‘Friends of Manny Villar’.  Ano ba talaga? Baka takot siyang sabihin kung sino itong mga kaibigan niya at baka itong mga kaibigan niya ay mga kaibigan din ni Presidente Arroyo,” Acosta says. “Dakilang sinungaling talaga siya!”

In addition to being a liar, Acosta calls the shamelessly deceptive Villar ‘ang dakilang manlilinlang’—recently shown through Villar’s desperate attempt to circumvent election law by distributing twenty-peso bills to children at a campaign sortie.

Such dole outs are in clear violation of Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code and are considered vote-buying.

“Villar is full of excuses. He is yet again being deceptive and attempting to undermine the intelligence of the Filipino people. Just because children can’t vote, it doesn’t mean that he isn’t trying to win the votes of their parents or families with his camote fund,” Acosta says.

‘Teacher’ Neric Acosta vows that governance under the Liberal Party will be honest, transparent and free of deception.
