MANILA, Philippines -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will once again clear the thousands of vendors who have resumed peddling on the sidewalks of major thoroughfares in the metropolis.
MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando also advised vendors in Baclaran in Parañaque City, Roxas Blvd. in Manila, and Commonwealth Avenue and Balintawak in Quezon City to take their wares inside marketplaces instead so they won't obstruct pedestrians from using the pavements.
"We will operate at Roxas Blvd., Commonwealth Avenue and Balintawak where thousands of sidewalk vendors have returned to breaking the law," Fernando recently announced.
Aside from sidewalk vendors, the MMDA chief said they have also advised to several transport terminal operators in Baclaran to transfer their operations to Cavite.
Numerous passenger buses and jeepneys have been using the Baclaran area as a terminal for several years now, causing traffic snarls in the area.
