ALEXANDER B. TINSAY
Seasoned Broadcaster, Agent of Change
As a broadcast journalist for three decades, Alex has seen, heard and felt the heart and soul of the Filipino people. He was right in the middle of developments as each story unfolded right before his eyes, initially both as a radio newscaster and a writer of stories behind the headlines at the Far East Broadcasting Company (DZAS) in 1980.
With the passion to provide the public access to reliable information, Alex conceptualized, produced and anchored the first GMA Morning News, GMA Balita with a simulcast over radio and television for ten years. This was the first anti-crime segment ever on Philippine television.
His commitment to broadcast journalism led him to more challenges, this time as a fearless commentator of Bisig Bayan opinions and editorials in GMA Balita.
From 1998 to the present, Alex has been involved in outstanding GMA 7’s programs such as Saksi and Frontpage, which have brought the realities of truth and justice right into the living rooms of the Filipino people, and which have consequently helped the audience understand their rights as well as their potentials as a people.
For a man who has been a change agent through broadcast journalism, Alex has gone beyond the task of public information. He wants to see a social transformation where people are provided access to information as an empowering tool to make informed decision.
Alex has covered four presidents, being a member of Malacanang Press Corps. He was also a professor of radio and TV broadcasting in a leading university and a recipient of several awards honoring his valuable contributions to broadcast journalism.
